Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has announced 191 Stenographer jobs through newspaper and its website to make new recruit for Services & General Administration Department, Government of the Punjab, Civil Secretariat, Lahore. S&GAD has requested to fill these vacant seats. S&GAD offers grade 15 to the post of stenographer.

Job Title: Stenographer
Basic Pay Scale: 15
Job Nature: Stenographers will be appointed on regular basis
Jobs Quota: Open Merit 77, Special Persons 14, Minority Quota 10 and Women Quota = 90
Place of Posting: All the Administrative Departments of Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore.

Minimum Qualification

As per Punjab Secretariat Ministerial Posts Service Rules, the minimum qualification required for the posts of Stenographer is as under:

  1. Secondary School Certificate (Second Division) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board.
  2. A speed of 70 words per minute in Shorthand and 35 words per minute in typing on typewriter or Computer in English.
  3. Three months Office Automation Certificate in computer operations covering MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, usage of internet and e-mail from a recognized institute.

Minimum Experience: Nil
Age: Male 18 to 25+5 years and Female 18 to 25+8 years
Gender: Male, Female & Transgender
Domicile Eligibility: Only Punjab domiciled candidates can apply.

Syllabus for Written Examination / Test

  1. English Shorthand Test will be held at the speed of seventy words per minute and English Typing Test will be held at the speed of thirty five words per minute on computer.
  2. For ascertaining the computer knowledge, a MCQs test will be conducted pertaining to MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point after passing the shorthand/type test.
  3. Successful candidates are called for Interview.

How to Apply

  1. Deposit Rs.600/- under Head:"C02101-ORGANIZATIONS OF STATE-TEST FEE REALIZED BY THE PUNJAB PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION", in any Branch of State Bank of Pakistan or National Bank of Pakistan or Government Treasury on or before the Closing Date of submission of applications.
  2. Submit "Online Application Form" by closing date which is 16th Augut, 2019. Applicants should fill in the On-line Application Form at PPSC Website: http://www.ppsc.gop.pk

IMPORTANT: Special Person is not required to deposit application fee. He/ She must have Disability Certificate

Salary of Stenographer

Salary of Stenographer is equal to Basic Pay Scale 15 along with allowances as admissible to other Punjab Government Employees. However, newly appointed stenographer salary in S&GAD can be estimated as follow:

House Rent Allowance: 3,524
Conveyance Allowance: 5,000
Medical Allowance: 1,500
Adhoc Relief Allowance 2016: 1,351
Adhoc Relief Allowance 2017: 1,612
Adhoc Relief Allowance 2018: 1,612
Adhoc Relief Allowance 2019: 1,612
Utility Allowance: 7,000
Secretariat Allowance: 8,060
Special Allowance: 1,044
Grand Salary (Estimated): 48,435

Job Description of Stenographer

Section Stenographers in Civil Secretariat will perform the following duties:

  1. Take down dictation of notes and drafts from their Section Officers and type them neatly and accurately;
  2. Do most of the routine typing work in their Sections including typing of enclosures to communications. If the enclosures exceed three pages and are not Confidential/Secret these may be sent to the Clerk attached to the Section for typing;
  3. Note down scheduled meetings, time limit cases and important cases in the Section Officer's table diary/engagements;
  4. Attend to the telephone in the absence of Section Officers and maintain the Section Telephone Registers;
  5. Be responsible for the proper handling and care of their computers and other office equipment; and
  6. Perform the duties of Section Assistant during his temporary absence.

Promotion / Career Scope

Promotion / Career Scope of a stenographer in S&GAD, Punjab Civil Secretariat is as under:

Step 1: Stenographer in Grade 15 is eligible for promotion as Senior Scale Stenographer in Grade 16 upon completion of 05 years experience and two weeks mandatory training.

Step 2: Senior Scale Stenographer is eligible for promotion as Personal Assistant in Grade 16 with an increase in salary after completion of 02 years service and two weeks training course.

Step 3: Personal Assistant is further eligible for promotion as Private Secretary in Grade 17 after completion of 05 years service and completion of 04 weeks training course.

Step 4: Private Secretary is eligible for promotion as PMS Officer after six weeks training.

I Have no idea that how much time i have applied for the post of stenographer.. And i also hear that A candidate can apply for the post of stenographer in S&GAD department only for 3 times... So i want to know that how much time i have applied for this post and how many chances are still available to apply for this post.. Can you guide me that how can i check my remaining chances?

There is no age limit for candidates who are already in government service.
