PMS Exam - How to Select Optional Subjects
Selection of papers is the most important aspect of Provincial Management Service (PMS) Exam attempt by a candidate. Selection of optional subjects in PMS Exam is little easy as compared with the CSS Exam. Out of PMS Syllabus Groups, a candidate has to select 600 Marks subjects. No doubt that a candidate holds one degree or two degrees in his educational career but he has to select 600 marks from the groups.
No paper is low scoring or high scoring; it is the material which we present in the papers and the level of preparedness.
Here we assume that different candidates with different degrees such as Sciences, Commerce, Arts & Humanities are trying to select subjects for their PMS Exam. Let us discuss one by one with different combinations.
Candidate with Science Subjects
A candidate with degree of sciences such as MSc Chemistry is intending to select 600 marks 06 subjects so the different combinations which are workable may be as under:
- Political Science 200 (Group E)
- Chemistry 200 (Group D)
- Social Work 200 (Group F)
Candidate with Art Subjects
A candidate with degree of Arts such as MA Urdu is intending to select 600 marks 06 subjects so the different combinations which are workable may be as under:
- History 200 (Group E)
- Urdu 200 (Group G)
- Sociology 200 (Group F)
Candidate with Commerce Subjects
A candidate with degree of Arts such as M.Com is intending to select 600 marks 06 papers so the different combinations which are workable may be as under:
- Commerce 200 (Group A)
- Punjabi 200 (Group G)
- Mass Communication 200 (Group E)
Candidate with Law Degrees
A candidate with degree of Arts such as LLB is intending to select 600 marks 06 papers so the different combination which are workable may be as under:
- Law 200 (Group E)
- Social Work 200 (Group F)
- Persian 200 (Group G)
Note: Similarly, some different selection combinations may be made by the candidate keeping in view his/ her interest.

Well, any candidate is bound to follow the groups and subjects prescribed by PPSC for PMS Examination. If your main degree is not available in it. You may like to select the subjects which gives you interest or which seems easy just like social work, political science, Punjabi etc.
