Librarian Job in Archives & Libraries Wing, S&GAD | Exam, Promotion and Salary

The Punjab Archives come under the administration of the Punjab Archives and Libraries Wing of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) of the Punjab Government. The Punjab Archives contain one of the biggest collections of historical documents in the subcontinent. This collection, housed partially in Anarkali's Tomb in the Punjab Secretariat, Lahore. To run its functions, the Punjab Archives and Libraries Wing have library staff.

Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) vide its Advertisement No.11/2019 has announced 01 Librarian post, Basic Scale-17, on contract basis for a period of three years.

Requirements for Librarian Post

Qualification/ Experience: Minimum MA Library Science/ Information Management (2nd Division) from a recognized university.

Age: Male: 22 to 30+5 = 35 years, Female: 22 to 30+8 = 38 years

Gender: Male, Female & Transgender

Domicile: Only Punjab domiciled persons can apply

Place of Posting: Library Complex, Muridkay, Sheikhupura District in Punjab.

Syllabus for Written Examination/ Test

One paper MCQ type Written Test of 100 marks and 90 minutes duration comprising questions relating to:

  1. MA Library Science/ Information Management Science (80%)
  2. General Knowledge (Includes Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, Geography, Urdu, Everyday Science and basic Computer Studies/IT Skills) (20%)

  1. Deposit Rs.600/- under Head: "C02101- ORGANIZATIONS OF STATE-TEST FEE REALIZED BY THE PUNJAB PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION" in any Branch of State Bank of Pakistan or National Bank of Pakistan or Government Treasury on or before the Closing Date of submission of applications.

Pay / Salary of Librarian

Salary of Librarian is equal to Basic Scale 17 alongwith allowances as admissible to other employees of the Punjab Government.
