Job Description

Student Affairs and Services (SA&S) is the one stop department for all activities and support pertaining to student life beyond classrooms and clinics. It works closely with faculty, staff, and leadership across all entities to foster student centeredness and facilitate a successful academic journey at AKU. In line with international best practices adapted to the local context, SA&S functions to prepare students for entering society as innovative, collaborative, and compassionate leaders in their fields.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to Associate Director, Counselling Services and Wellness, you will be responsible to support and enhance mental health, resilience and personal development of undergraduate and post-graduate students at Aga Khan University, Pakistan.
Specific responsibilities include:
conducting counseling/psychotherapy sessions entailing psychological assessments, setting and achieving therapeutic goals, and maintaining session records of students progress
designing and facilitating psycho-educational sessions and workshops to enhance self-awareness and coping skills of students
developing activities and programmes for promoting students mental health and wellbeing
effectively collaborating with other departments by receiving and making referrals
identifying environmental stressors impacting students emotional wellbeing and reporting them to pertinent authorities
researching, analysing and developing informational material and self-help resources.

Requirements:
You should have:
For Senior Student Counselor;
Completed PhD internship with more than five years of experience
For Student Counselor;
Master's/MPhil degree in Clinical Psychology with at least 2 years of training in counselling/psychotherapy, psychological assessments and report writing
minimum 2 years post-qualification experience of providing mental health support and conducting psycho-educational activities in educational/clinical settings with adolescent and adult populations
For both;
research experience preferably with at least one publication
excellent oral and written communication skills in English
strong public speaking and presentation skills
proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
