Aga Khan University's (AKU) Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is a preeminent public health institution in the country. The vision of the Chancellor set the direction for the University to take a lead in community development and the creation of an innovative curriculum that emphasises a balance between patient care and population health. Over the past several decades, CHS has played a major role in leading the development of national level primary health care, public health practice, health systems through evidence-based approach. CHS has established successful models in urban and rural settings in Pakistan emphasising empowerment - building on the strengths of communities. As part of an international University, CHS collaborates in a global network of outstanding research and teaching institutions including AKU affiliates in East Africa and Central Asia.
CHS has five major sections Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental-Occupational Health & Injuries, and Non-Communicable Diseases & Mental Health.
Responsibilities:
Being a member of the Health Policy & Management Section, you will be responsible for:
teaching and facilitating in the postgraduate public health training and undergraduate programmes of MBBS at the University. This will also include graduate programmes (MSc in Health Policy & Management / Epidemiology & Biostatistics)
assisting in the development and offering of short courses as part of the Continuing Education Programme
undertaking independent research and contributing to the ongoing research to achieve its milestones.
Requirements:
You should have:
an MBBS degree with FCPS in Community Medicine / equivalent diploma with a valid PMDC license or PhD in Public Health with demonstrated capacity as a teacher and evidence of scholarship in practice, education, and research. Alternatively, a Masters degree (MSc/MPhil) in Public Health with at least two years of experience, or at least two years structured fellowship training in public health
ability to provide conceptual and technical input to a diverse range of research studies in the department and the Institution
knowledge of new teaching methodologies and practices
good academic writing skills
good interpersonal skills and commitment to learning, growth, and self-development.
