Aga Khan University, Karachi is establishing a COVID-19 Biorepository to collect biological samples and collate relevant clinical data from COVID-19 positive individuals. The banked samples and accompanying clinical data will be utilized by researchers to conduct goal-oriented studies to better understand the underlying etiology and patho-physiology of the disease, host responses and pathogen diversity.
This is a contractual position for a period of one year.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
working in a BSL-3 facility taking all the necessary precautions
coordinating patient recruitment and informed consent
coordinating/collecting samples from defined departments and areas as per pre-defined SOPs
logging each sample collected in the repository software
processing the collected sample for downstream use as per the pre-determined protocols
aliquoting the samples and store in proper conditions and space as directed
logging the location of samples and the number of aliquots
ensuring that identification labels assigned to all aliquots of COVID-19 sample storage containers remain adhered and are readable
maintaining detailed storage records of samples
helping in documentation of procedures and maintaining biorepository database
managing sample archives and easy retrieval of samples
participating in the preparation of reports on sample type, number of aliquots and location
helping supervisors write, revise and update SOPs
performing routine maintenance on equipment as required, and follow ups with relevant departments.
Requirements:
You should have:
MSc/BSc in Biological Sciences or relevant field from an HEC recognized university
minimum 2 years of related work and comparable experience at a reputable and relevant organization
strong research background/training and analytic skills
excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
ability to demonstrate sound judgment in managing challenging and sensitive situations.
