The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Karachi is the first and the only conservatoire of its kind in Pakistan. It offers a structured syllabus for a four year course in Music and a three year course in Theatre Arts. NAPA's curriculum is designed to provide every student with a strong and broad foundation in the Performing Arts. Both our Music and Theatre Arts Departments consist of teacher-performers as well as academic instructors. NAPA also provides students opportunities to work with eminent practitioners in workshops held frequently during their course. NAPA seeks applications for following position:
Head of the Music Department: NAPA seeks a dynamic, seasoned and creative professional with sound knowledge and understanding of Eastern traditional music and a passion for excellence as Head of the Music Department. The successful candidate will preferably hold at least a Master's degree in an arts discipline besides having a significant exposure to Pakistan's musical realm and a minimum of 10 years of academic / artistic experience. The Head of the Music Department is expected to provide leadership to the Music Department through effective academic and professional vision and knowledge. S/he will work with the faculty and administration to realize the mission of NAPA, support and build music diploma programmes, and enhance the creative output of the Department. The Head of the Music Department will review and refine the Music curriculum on an on-going basis in consultation with the Curriculum and Faculty Advisor and manage the departmental and scholarship budgets. The ideal candidate would have strong association with the field of music and ensure linkages of the Music Department with other relevant segments of media and the public realm to benefit the students and provide them practical exposure and experience.
