Ordinance to Regulate Universities in Punjab

The Punjab Governor has promulgated another ordinance to provide for the creation of a higher education commission to regulate the provincial universities.
The Punjab Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been authorised to regulate funding of the universities in the province, and to also select their vice chancellors.
Officials said on Saturday the commission had been created in view of the neglect of Punjab universities by the HEC with regard to their funding and appointment of their vice chancellors.
