The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.
The CEPI project is a vaccine trial which will be conducted in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Aim of the study is to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of different combinations of covid-19 vaccines approved for use in Pakistan. Trial duration is 30 months. Healthy adults will be enrolled in the trial, and each will be followed up for 24 months. It is going to be conducted with collaboration of national and internationally acclaimed institutions.
This is a short-term contractual position based in Lahore.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
conduct routine technical procedures, clinical tests/biochemical test on daily basis according to laboratory protocols/manual
assist in the preparation of final project reports
ensure samples are collected, prepared and processed as per the protocol/guidelines stated in the research procedure
assist seniors in implementation of safety standards
assist section in-charge technologist with teaching students and trainees as per laboratory protocols
design training materials for junior staff regarding laboratory protocols and procedures
maintain quality control records of equipments and laboratory tests
prepare stock solutions, master mixes, and other chemicals/ reagents
any other duty or responsibility assigned by the lab-manger/in-charge technologist
confirm and report unusual findings found in specimen to in-charge technologist
perform routine technical procedures for internal and external quality control surveys
compile project results for presentation at departmental meetings
Requirements:
You should have:
a minimum of B.Sc. (2nd Division) in Biological Science. M.Sc. will be preferred
at least one year experience in laboratory or hospital/ research facility
substantial knowledge of laboratory/research testing procedures
the ability to follow written and oral instructions
