Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. was an American Jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of fro 1902-1932, and as Acting Chief Justice of the united States January-February 1930. He is one of the most widely cited Supreme Court Justices of United States history and is one of the most influential common law judges. During his senior year of college, at the outset of the American Civil War, holmes enlisted in the fourth battalion, Massachusetts militia.
