RenalCare is recognized in Pharma industry by the successful launch of Epokine. During the first year of its life cycle, Epokine became leading brand by dislodging Multinational brand of EPO, which was enjoying 90% market share – an extremely rare example in pharma industry.
RenalCare became victim of its own success when 'Multinational' reduced their EPO price by 50%. It was DO or DIE situation for this division. My admiration for RenalCare is not only that they defended their leadership but to how they got there – the enormous odds they overcame, the dignity and courage they displayed in the process.
RG is the first and the only company to introduce Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneum Dialysis (CAPD). This modality is meant for those who stop responding to machine dialysis. Currently there are < 60 patients in Pakistan who are surviving due to the availability of this modality. With Such a low patient base, financial ends can never justify the introduction of this modality. RG has taken this responsibility, because the company is not solely centered on profits, but also on making a difference in the lives of others.
GyneCare was the first to create intravenous iron market in year 2000. In this connection, we became business partner of Vifor International - a leading global company in the field of iron deficiency anemia. Our first year commitment with Vifor was to sell 36,000 venofer ampoules, and we sold 60,000. There after GyneCare team never looked back. Latest IMS audit reports that sales of Venofer exceeded one Mio ampoules during last year.
GyneCare like RenalCare also become the victim of its success, because more than dozen cheap Venofer copies are now available in the market. Their number seems to be increasing. GyneCare has not only defended Venofer market share successfully but has accelerated its growth pattern.
