Job Description

AKUs institutional COVID-19 research extends across multiple fields including Basic Sciences, Clinical, and Translational. A registry on COVID-19 patients admitted to AKU requiring medical/surgical and/or intensive care has been established to maintain comprehensive patient records and facilitate interdisciplinary research. Registry data will be used for clinical outcomes and quality of life research, and will be linked with the SARS-CoV-2 biorepository maintained by the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at AKU to facilitate translational research.

You will be responsible for:
assisting the COVID-19 Registry research team in testing and refining research tools
coordinating communication between the research team and other stakeholders for data collection
telephonic follow-up of patients, taking verbal consent and filling of QOL questionnaire
assisting the research team in writing research reports
maintaining accurate records, questionnaires and safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects
assisting in analysing quantitative data
collating and analysing complex data
summarising completed protocols and studies; writing scientific articles and manuscripts for publications and presentations
monitoring progress of research projects and coordinating information between various sections of the Institution.
ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of data collection activities
monitoring and collaborating research activities
maintaining data quality control, conducting data management and data analysis as per study objectives
assisting in preparing manuscripts and abstracts for publications and presentations as required by investigators, administrators and funding agencies.

You should have:
a bachelors degree in a basic or health science from a well-reputed local or international university
one to two years of related work and comparable experience at a reputable and relevant organisation.
one year of clinical and/or clinical research experience at AKU will be preferred
understanding of evidence synthesis
experience in monitoring and evaluation will be preferred
experience with softwares such as REDCap, Microsoft Excel, SPSS
the ability to demonstrate sound judgment in managing challenging and sensitive situations
excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
strong organisational, project management, planning and problem solving skills
excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
