Job Description

You would be responsible for the financial management of multi-year, multi centre external grants of the university, program feasibilities, external audits and coordination for statutory financial statements of the grants & contracts section and to ensure that the university is complying with all the grant agreements, budget and the agency requirements as agreed.

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will specifically be responsible to:
assist Supervisor in ensure that the university is complying with all the grant agreements, budget and the agency requirements as agreed
review of all financial proposals including budgets being submitted, grant agreements and financial reports that to be issued and submitted to respective donors / agencies as agreed upon
assist Supervisor in the external audit of the grants by the firms, granting agencies and/or coordinate with the internal audit department of the University for Internal Audits of grants
help relevant stakeholders in developing grant proposal in accordance with the guidelines
monitor work processes, procedures and establish programs which drive performance toward organizational goals
review and evaluate work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensure quality control in adherence to policies and procedures
review and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to internal and external auditors and granting agencies
ensure the smooth flow of all the payments of the area
coordinate the process of developing monthly Grant Variance Reports
develop strategies for continuous improvement of its operations; identify weaknesses and strategies to mitigate the risk
refine processes for efficient monitoring of budgetary and actual financial/ statistical data.

Requirements:
CA / CMA / ACCA / CIMA or MBA from a reputable university with majors in Finance
minimum of five to six years related working experience preferably in a management position, experience of working with NGO's will be an added advantage
sound knowledge of overall financial systems
should be able to multitask and think out of the box
excellent analytical skills; able to motivate team and command respect
able to communicate relevant trends and findings clearly and concisely, knowing when to escalate
possess exemplary interpersonal communication and report writing skills
proficiency in computer applications especially MS Office
ability to work under pressure and meet stringent timelines
ability to work with minimal supervision and to resolve issues independently
knowledge of laws especially contract law will be preferred.
