The Chief Data Analytics Officer is responsible for providing leadership, vision and direction for data warehousing and analytics related to the University's planning, research, service delivery, administration to continually address increasing effectiveness. You will manage a comprehensive programme that supports the analytic, strategy, data management, data governance and related reporting needs of the University. Further, you will facilitate the availability of relevant data for use in University-wide planning and decision making and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting obligations and accreditation requirements.
You will also oversee data provenance, integrity, quality assurance, and ensure that institutional data collection and reporting processes are reliable, valid, and ethical, while ensuring consistency with the University's vision, mission, principles and values.
You will participate in university-wide decision-making related to all aspects of data management and the formulation of related strategies . You will be accountable for developing the Data Analytics team to support the envisioned Data Science Centre, its strategy and for stewarding the institution's data management roadmap in line with University's vision. In this critical role, you will also have the support of a University-wide, stakeholder representative Advisory Committee.
Your responsibilities would include, but not limited to;
Define and oversee the University's processes to capture, maintain, and apply data and information to support business intelligence and process re-engineering. Establish the strategic direction build the University's data management programme and optimize the use of data both internally and externally.
Support the academic, clinical and administrative enterprises to leverage data assets to support them.
Create and sustain a vibrant data organization, technologies, processes, and policies within the team and across the University.
Apply best practices and develop tools for data analytics and management.
Create a roadmap to leverage data analytics to strengthen business intelligence, process re-engineering, quality, capacity-building and research.
Lead the Data and Analytics Department, promoting the use of leading trends and new data management technologies. Responsible for finding data analytic opportunities while ensuring data and information compliance with the University's policies and external legal and regulatory requirements.
Establish policies to capture, maintain, and present data and information on a global level in order to measure performance.
Develop and implement a data warehousing strategy to support the realization of operational and strategic goals as outlined in University's strategic plan.
Support and provide leadership to data users across the University for analytical projects
Plays a highly collaborative role and in this position, s/he will oversee cross-functional data governance while simultaneously ensuring adoption and adherence to data quality and process governance in the relevant collaborating departments.
Partner with the various University departments, including Office of Research, Deans and Directors, Hospital leaders and other working groups (internal or external) to understand and fulfill their data needs.
Work with and advise senior leadership, deans, department chairs, faculty and staff to identify, develop and implement data analytics to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness in areas of strategic importance to the University.
Integrate silos and share information across the organization to optimize investments in time and resources that will deliver best practices through optimal data repositories.
Responsible for understanding the University and Healthcare needs for data mining, analyzing, reporting and presenting those findings with actionable insights aligned with best practice models, ensuring data integrity throughout.
Identify and evaluate advanced analytic requests and new data sources.
Promote a culture of data-driven decision making. Identify the organization's innovative thinkers, partner with them on high-value, high-impact initiatives, and increase analytics adoption by showcasing successful projects to the rest of the user community.
Lead and support University-wide data activities and champions for data ownership, standardization, accessibility, and governance. Create an environment that provides universal access to data and information across the University.
Mentor the Data Analytics team, encourage their professional growth.
Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to success.
Should have significant experience building and leading a data science organization or practice as well as successful experience evangelizing/advocating for data analytics.
Highly-skilled in the design, development, and validation of data and analytics.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
Proven ability to identify opportunities for improvement, analyze operational and system processes, procedures and statistics.
Flexible and able to respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Post-graduate degree in Computer Science or Information Engineering; a background including statistics is preferred.
10 to 15 years of experience in a leading Data Analytics or Data Science position within a fast-paced and complex environment in academics, and/or health-care delivery including driving change within a large, preferably academic, organization.
