Job Description

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) is the central coordination entity which supports the overall vision of the University to conduct research that contributes to the global body of knowledge and advances public policy in response to the real needs of communities and people in the developing world.
Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost (AVP), Office of Research and Graduate Studies, you will be responsible for various activities associated with the submission of proposals and receipt of grants at the Aga Khan University across all campuses. You will assist in development, improvement and updating of research related databases for all AKU campuses. You will be required to assist in the strategic research prioritization process ongoing at AKU across all disciplines and regions in which AKU has a presence.

Specific responsibilities include:
modifying and maintaining functionality of the Projects database
updating/maintaining the Pre-award PeopleSoft system for proposals submitted, grants received in liaison with G&C office and IT
maintaining a database of publications from all campuses
assisting the Associate Vice Provost & Manager Research Office in preparing the strategic research framework and analysis of research themes
assisting in the preparation of research presentations including those to the Board of Trustees (BoT) on strategic research priorities
reviewing all proposals for extra mural grants received via the Pre-award PeopleSoft system, discussing with users about any queries, and submitting to superiors for final review
facilitating input in the system for researchers who are not familiar with the system
coordinating with IT department about various aspects of the PeopleSoft software
assisting the AVP to prepare internal, external and BoT reports.

You should have:
preferably a Masters in relevant field or equivalent degree from a recognized institution
at least 5 years of relevant experience
excellent written & verbal communication skills
an understanding of the PeopleSoft System
an understanding of AKU research and grant systems across all campuses
computer skills
ability to work with colleagues at all levels
ability to organize and prioritize work
meticulous attention to detail as a self-starter with a minimum of supervision.
