Job Description

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognised regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational units: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental Health, and Non-Communicable Diseases & Mental Health.
This is a grant-funded contractual position for a period of one year to study access to health care for the people residing in slums areas and are known to have worse health indicators than those living in rural areas. The aim of this study is to understand current health delivery patterns and health seeking behavior in urban slums in Karachi and suggest cost-effective models of care in these areas.

You will be responsible for:
acting as a focal person for all communications to/from donor agencies, entities and other national & international partners and stakeholders
acting as a facilitator and coordinator for different departments within the organisation on various project related matters
preparing, monitoring and maintaining a data bank of all protocols, training manuals, papers and other project related materials during and after project
managing the existing grants and strategically planning resources to ensure smooth running of research grants and contracts as well as managing the administrative aspect of various grants
reviewing policies and procedures of funding agency and completing the required documentation for timely grant submission
preparing Ethical Review Committees (ERC) applications, its periodic reports, applying for renewals and responding to their queries in consultation with Principal Investigators
effectively managing, developing and facilitating the entire internship process
planning and scheduling office events, including meetings, conferences and training sessions
planning and participating in capacity building/ motivational activities organised for research team.

You should have:
a Masters degree from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution with an exposure to research related activities and environment
at least three years of relevant experience at a management level in a large organisation preferably in an educational institution of higher learning
sound knowledge of grant management
excellent interpersonal and communication skills
good analytical skills
ability to draft/write reports, proposals, minutes etc.
strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
efficiency in usage of MS office
ability to handle office correspondence independently.
